About

Uma Schupfer’s work explores themes of love, womanhood and relationships. Her work evokes a sense of serenity, femininity and intimacy. Schupfer plays with ideas of what’s considered accurate or natural while allowing there to be no boundaries on her reality.

Through the use of soft color palettes and semi-transparent brush strokes, her paintings emphasize feelings of sensuality and companionship. There is a hint of mystery that requires the viewer to pause to take it all in. One is never quite sure how many figures we are observing; or where one body ends and another one starts. Schupfer’s work shows us that there is comfort in simplicity while at the same time leaving it up to the viewer to explore the complexity of relationships.

Schupfer is a self taught artist with a bachelor degree in Community Entrepreneurship from the University of Vermont.
